Trust me, I'm a journalist.... or was!

Yep, you read that right and being a former journalist and editor I know exactly what reporters are looking for when it comes to PR and what they want to see in a press release.

When I was a journalist one of my biggest gripes was press releases that were either badly written or confusing, had no relation to the news patch or publication, lacked a decent news angle and/or missed vital details.

Nine times out of ten, they went in the bin!

Talking to my journalist friends still working in the press, many of the same 'useless' press releases are still hitting newsrooms and yes, you've guessed it, the outcome is still the same except these days reporters click DELETE instead!

But rooting out those newsy nuggets to feed to journalists and writing a press release that will get them interested isn't rocket science, although does require thought and planning.

And that's where I come in, to help you do your own PR and get positive publicity for FREE!

I don't claim to be some big PR guru and have no formal qualifications in PR or business marketing, but I do have 15-plus years real work experience as a journalist and editor of various newspapers and magazines here in the UK.

I've been on the receiving end of the best and worst of press releases and I know what makes a story that journalists will want to publish and what will end up being dumped.

I also run my own PR and content writing business and have stacks of press releases and news/feature articles to share with you so you can see that you don't need to be an expert in PR to make headlines in the news.

Of course, having good contacts in the press (many are my personal friends) is always a bonus but, even for me, few would publish anything from the press releases I submitted if the contents were not newsworthy, relevant and timely.

So follow my lead and let's start making headlines for you!
